Er absolvierte das Universitätsstudium an den Universitäten von Wisconsin-Milwaukee und Madison und begann die musikpädagogische Laufbahn 1961 an der Dominican High School. 1968 wurde er Kapellmeister des Blasorchesters an der Kettle Moraine High School und 1983 an der Marquette Universität.
