[DE]Vereinfachte Fassung für Symphonische Blasorchester. Das vorliegende Werk stammt aus dem Ballett 'Rodeo', das Copland 1942 komponierte. Für die Konzertfassung dieses Stückes in Form einer Orchestersuite löste er vier Tanzszenen heraus: Buckaroo Holiday, Coral Nocturne, Saturday Night Waltz und Hoe Down. In Hoe Down verwendete er die Square-Dance-Melodien von 'Bonaparte' und 'McLeod's Reel'. Die jazznahe Polyrhythmik verleiht dem Werk seine Leichtigkeit, Fröhlichkeit und Lebensfreude.

[EN]American composer Copland wrote his masterful ballet score to 'Rodeo' in 1942, and Hoe Down later became the finale to his orchestral suite 'Four Dance Episodes.' This piece is light, jazzy, humorous and full of zest, and Quincy Hilliard's transcription brings it within the reach of bands at this level.
This title is in the key of E-flat in 2/4 meter. There are some short meter changes to 3/4 and back again to 2/4. The trumpet has a short solo.
