Designed to utilize just six notes, First Concert: A Demonstration Performance is playable after only six to eight weeks of instruction. By programming this 15-minute demonstration concert for the student body or parent/teacher meeting, the visibility of the band program will be raised, there will be greater appreciation for the process of learning to play a musical instrument, and students will be able to achieve this short-range goal. The composition includes a sample letter of an invitation to parents and administrators, a poster announcing the concert, and a complete 15-minute concert including a narrator's script.
