The composition recalls the sense of adventure and excitement travelling by stream train: the loudspeaker announcing the departure from the station; the laboured struggle of the engine to gradually pick up speed; the thrill of travelling at full steam to arrive at the band concert in time. The heart of the work pays homage to the music of Nino Rota, one of the greatest Italian composers of film music.
