Chorale Prelude: Abide With Me Fred J. Allen

Commissioned by the Louisiana College / Central Louisiana Symphonic Band, Dr. A. D. "Buddy" Himes, Director and is dedicated to Dixie Sylvest Moss. Composers have always used the chorale preludes of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) as models for that form. The hymn "Abide With Me" has been used as the basis for this setting, with original material used for preluding and transitions. Performed at the Mid-West International Band & Orchestra Convention in December of 1996.
