Dit symfonische gedicht is gebaseerd op vier mythische scenes met de Griekse held Theseus in de hoofdrol. Het stuk begint in op een feest Athene waar Theseus erkend wordt als zoon en opvolger van koning Aegeas. In Trip to Crete wordt de zeereis van de held beschreven, in Theseus and the Minotaur de worsteling met het monster, en tenslotte in Back to Athens de overwinning van de Griekse held, uitgebeeld door een prachtige en emotioneel geladen melodie.

It is a symphonic poem based on four mythical scenes from the famous Greek hero Theseus. This work begins in Athens, where Theseus is invited to a feast at which it was officially acknowledged that he is the son and successor of King Aegean. In Trip to Crete the composer describes the ship expedition made by our hero. Next in Theseus and the Minotaur the music chronicles the struggle between them. Finally in the last movement Back to Athens a beautiful melody of strong emotional content recounts the victory of our Greek hero.

Ce poème symphonique est basé sur quatre scènes mythiques au sujet du héro Grecque Thésée. Le morceau commence à une fête à Athènes où Thésée est reconnu comme fils et héritier du trône du roi Égée. Dans Trip to Crete, le voyage par mer du héro est décrit, dans Theseus and the Minotaur la lutte avec le monstre, et enfin dans Back to Athens la victoire du héro Grecque, représentée par une superbe mélodie pleine d'émotion.
