Eine Sinfonietta ist eine kleine Symphonie, also ein Musikwerk, das nicht den Umfang von einer vollwertigen Symphonie muss (schon möglich) haben. Dadurch hat der Komponist künstlerische Freiheiten. So erschien in dieser 4-teiligen Sinfonietta von Olivier Waespi schon im ersten Teil drei gegensätzliche Themen: eine Art reflektierendes Thema, gerade am Anfang bei den Holzbläsern, später ein mehr pathetisches Thema bei den Blechbläsern in dem Tutti.

Een sinfonietta is een kleine symfonie, dus een muziekwerk dat niet de omvang van een volwaardige symfonie moet (wel kan) hebben. Dit staat de componist bepaalde vrijheden toe. Zo duiken in deze 4-delige synfonietta van Olivier Waespi al in het eerste deel drie tegenstrijdige thema's op: een soort reflecterend thema net bij het begin in de houtblazers, later een meer pathetisch thema bij de lage koperblazers en tenslotte een helder, licht thema in het tutti.

A Sinfonietta is a small symphony, so it is a composition that does not boast the length of a real symphony (although this could be the case) and so allows the composer to take some liberties. In this sinfonietta we have three contradictory themes. In the first part there is a reflecting theme at the start with the woodwinds, later we have a more pathetic theme with the low brass and finally a clear, light theme with the complete band.

Une Sinfonietta est une petite symphonie, donc une uvre musicale que n'a pas l'ampleur d'une symphonie à part entière (bien qu'elle puisse l'avoir), ce qui permet certaines libertés au compositeur. Dans cette Sinfonietta il y a trois thèmes contradictoires: une espèce de thème réfléchi tout au début dans les bois, plus tard un thème plutôt pathétique dans les cuivres graves et finalement, un thème clair et léger interprété par l'ensemble de l'orchestre.
