De March of the Cripple' is een symfonische fantasie in meerdere delen die verschillende stijlen gebruikt. Het stuk onderzoekt poliritmiek en politonaliteit daarbij heeft het ook nog een ongewone vorm. Het begint met een evenwichtige giocoso melodie, welke, door middel van poliritmiek, een kreupele met zijn asymmetrische stap voorstelt.

The March of the Cripple is a symphonic fantasy in several parts featuring different styles which explore balanced and unsynchronized rhythms to give the feeling of the uneven walking of a crippled person. The piece explores polyrhythm and polytonality and isn't in the average structural form.

The march of the Cripple' est une fantaisie symphonique en plusieurs parties, comprenant différents styles, explorant des rythmes balancés et non synchronisés illustrant la marche inégale d'un homme boitant. La pièce est poly rythmique, polytonale, et n'a pas une forme structurelle traditionnelle. Le début, avec des rythmes non synchronisés, illustre la marche asymétrique de l'homme et utilise une mélodie balancée et joyeuse. La pièce au cours de son développement devient de plus en plus lourde et en colère, représentant les hostilités rencontrées par les personnes qui naissent différentes dans la société d'aujourd'hui. Une section lente arrive ensuite, montrant l'introspection et les lamentations d'une vie différente.
