Avern is commissioned in 2016 by Sant Esteve's hermitage association parties to celebrate the 350th anniversary of this small church in Ontinyent (Spain). The work is divided into five sections, related to the history of the hermitage and the hill on which the church is built. The sections are: The mountain and natural area around the church Avern, The door of the hell, Pray at the hermitage, The storm, and Celebration. This work is a transcription of the original version for symphonic orchestra.

Avern is een compositie-opdracht uit 2016 om het 350-jarig bestaan te vieren van de kleine Sant Esteve kerk in Ontinyent (Spanje). Het werk bestaat uit 5 delen die betrekking hebben op de geschiedenis van de kluizenaars-cel en de heuvel waarop de kerk is gebouwd. De titels van de delen zijn : De berg en het landschap rondom Avern, De deur van de hel, Gebed in de hermitage, De storm, en Viering. Dit werk is een transcriptie van de originele versie voor symfonieorkest.

Avern est écrite à la commande des associations de l'ermitage de Sant Esteve à Ontinyent (Espagne) à l'occasion de leur 350ième anniversaire. L'uvre est divisé en 5 mouvements concernant l'histoire de l'ermitage et la colline sur laquelle l'église est bâtie. Les titres sont : La montagne et le paysage entourant Avern, La porte de l'enfer, Prière à l'ermitage, La tempête, et Célébration. Avern entstand 2016 als Kompositionsauftrag anlässlich des 350jährigen Bestehens der kleinen Kirche Sant Esteve in der spanischen Stadt Ontinyent. Das Werk besteht aus fünf Teilen, die sich auf die Einsiedler-Klause und den Hügel beziehen, auf dem die Kirche errichtet wurde. Die Titel der Sätze lauten: Der Berg und die Umgebung von Avern, Die Tür zur Hölle, Gebet in der Eremitage, Der Sturm und Das Fest. Bei der vorliegenden Fassung handelt es sich um die Neu-Instrumentierung der ursprünglichen Fassung für Sinfonieorchester.
