This piece is in the form of a medley-overture, in this case the themes are taken from Dutch national and traditional songs. The introduction contains: The National Anthem (Wilhelmus), 'Wilt heden nu treden' and 'Een karretje dat op een zandweg reed'.A sincere and intentional Ode to the Netherlands!

L'oeuvre est écrite en forme d'une ouverture-potpourri, mais elle est basée sur des chansons hollandaises.L'introduction comprend le 'Wilhelmus' (l'hymne national), 'Wilt heden nu treden' et 'Een karretje dat op een zandweg reed'.Cette ouverture est délibérément un hommage aux Pays-Bas.
