*Ipswich, 9. Februar, 1949. Von 1967 bis 1970 studierte er an der East Anglia University, bis 1971 an der Southampton University, u. a. bei Alexander Goehr, und 1973 bis 1975 an der Leeds University. Seit 1976 ist er als Lektor an der Universität in Manchester tätig.
