Golland John geb. in Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire, 13. September 1942, Dukinfield, 14. April 1993. Golland absolvierte sein Musikstudium in Manchester, an der Royal Academy of Music und am British Bandsmens College of Music. Er leitete verschiedene Blasorchester, zuletzt (seit 1974) die James Shepherd Versatile Brass.
