Ryan Fraley composer / arranger

Ryan Fraley (b. 11 October 1973, Indianapolis, Ind.) is an American composer.



Mr. Fraley received a master's degree in composition from the State University of New York at Potsdam, and a bachelor's degree in music theory and composition from Ball State University.



In constant demand as an emerging young composer of ensemble music, Fraley has written innovative works for symphonic and jazz ensembles of all types. His compositions are published by the FJH Music Company, and have been performed worldwide by both professional and student groups. Fraley is a frequent recipient of ASCAP standard awards for frequent concert performances.



Involved in all aspects of music publishing, Ryan serves as a composer, arranger, music engraver, and web site administrator for The FJH Music Company. He is also working with vocalist Jon Anderson, from the band Yes, as an orchestrator and collaborator on forthcoming solo projects.



Along with composer and percussionist Ralph Johnson, and vocalist Lydia McAdams, Ryan is the co-founder of Wave Mechanics Union, a large-scale, studio jazz orchestra. In 2008, WMU released the CD Second Season: Progressive and Classic Rock as Jazz. The CD has enjoyed great reviews and radio plays worldwide.



Ryan has taught courses in composition, arranging, computer music engraving, and music performance at high school and college levels. Frequently invited to serve in educational settings, Fraley is often found as an adjudicator, guest composer, or guest lecturer. He was also an integral part of the development and support team for the Yamaha Corporation of America's innovative Music In Education program, a technology-driven general music classroom in use at more than 2,000 schools around the world.
