Wietse Meys (°1980 saxophones/(bass)clarinet/?ute) is an ex-student of John Ruocco in Brussels conservatory.
He showed great talent and maturity from a very young age, combining in?uences from Joshua Redman, Michael Brecker to Gene Ammons.
Nowadays hes a very busy side man in many projects, both in the pop and jazz world.
Wietse is a great section player with an exciting solo voice and is also much in demand as an arranger, writing arrangements for a lot of artists and also some occasional hard-swinging jazz charts.
He combines his playing and writing career with teaching ear training, solfege and harmony at the jazz department of the Arts High School of Brussels and saxophone at the academy of Grimbergen.
