Carl Otto Ehrenfried Nicolai (* 9. Juni 1810 in Königsberg i. Pr.; 11. Mai 1849 in Berlin) war ein deutscher Komponist. Bekannt wurde vor allem seine Oper Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor. Er gründete die Wiener Philharmoniker. Nicolai erhielt in Berlin bei Zelter sowie in Rom bei Baini Musikunterricht. 1841 erfolgte seine Ernennung zum Hofkapellmeister in Wien, 1847 kehrte er als Dirigent des Domchores und Kapellmeister der Oper nach Berlin zurück. Von seinen Kompositionen ist die Oper "Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor", 1849, bis heute lebendig geblieben.
