Ray Woodfield war viele Jahre bei den Royal Marines, davon wirkte er zehn Jahre als Musikdirektor. Nach seinem Rücktritt wurde er Rektor einer Musikschule und begann vermehrt mit komponieren und arrangieren. Seit einigen Jahren widmet er sich ausschließlich dieser Tätigkeit.
