March Of The Castle Guard / Vaktparade Øyvind Strand

When visiting Oslo I always try to manage to see the Castle Guards' Parade marching from Akershus Fortress to the Royal Castle (in the summer season). There is always a feeling of spirit and solemnity when the military band leads the procession through the city and the Karl Johan Street up to the Castle, for the changing of the Castle Guards. A dear tradition for the locals as well as visitors to the Norwegian capitol.

This march was composed after watching one of theese parades in spring of 2018. The ?rst military band to play the march was the Royal Norwegian Marine Band.

[NO]Når jeg er i Oslo passer jeg på å få med meg vaktparaden fra Akershus festning til slottet (i sommerhalvåret). Det er alltid stemningsfullt og høytidelig når militærkorpsene leder Gardens vaktstyrker til avløsning på slottet, gjennom byen og opp Karl Johans gate. En kjær tradisjon for byens befolkning og besøkende i hovedstaden.

Denne marsjen ble til etter å ha opplevd en slik parade en vårdag i 2018. Det første militærkorpset som brukte marsjen var Kongelige Norske Marines Musikkorps.
