Øyvind Strand composer / arranger

Øyvind Strand (* 1956 ) is a Norwegian musician, composer and conductor. He grew up in Drangedal and lives in Skien.



Since 1980 he has been conductor of the music society Suoni and also conductor of Gimsøy School Music (since 1977) and the choir Canto Libre (since 1995). He is also a member of the original line-up of the traditional jazz band Bratsberg Amt Jazzorkester, founded in 1978. For several years he was involved as a conductor in the music summer camps in Kvitsund in Telemark under the auspices of the Norwegian Music Corps Federation (NMF) and sat on the board of NMF Telemark , NMF Sør and Telemarkkonsertar AS. He is a leader in the Telemark Culture Network, head of the Skien Music Council and board member of the chamber music festival Norsjø . He has also been involved in organizing and hosting major music festivals in Skien, such as the Nordic Baltic Choir Festival and the National Choir Festival . Since 1999 he has directed the Vintertreff for adult corps , a community project across county borders. He has been a juror at various music competitions and is frequently used as a conference moderator, speaker, lecturer and guest conductor at courses and seminars.
