Geboren in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, 11. September 1912. Nach dem Besuch des Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia schloss er sich der US Army Band in Washington DC an, die er 1942 verließ, um die Dirigentenstelle bei der Kapelle des Military District of Washington in Fort Myer, Virginia, zu übernehmen. 1945/46 kehrte er zur US Army Band als Assistant Director zurück. Nach seiner Militärdienstzeit zog er sich nach Johnstown zurück und arbeitete u. a. für Somerset Music Press.
