Geert Schrijvers composer / arranger

Geert Schrijvers was born in 1971 in the Dutch village of Reuver (Limburg). He began his musical carrier as a clarinettist at the Symphonic Wind Orchestra in Reuver. Later he studied the clarinet at the Tilburgs Conservatorium. Meanwhile he joined the National Youth Wind Orchestra and got caught more and more by the variety of the music for winds. At the Conservatorium in Rotterdam he studied conducting oid with Jaap Koops, Jos van de Sijde and Arie van Beek. During his studies he took part in masterclasses by Karel Husa, Jan van der Roost, Alex Schillings and Philip Sparke, and he started arranging and composing. One of the most prestigious arrangements by Geert Schrijvers is that of Gustav Holst’s The Planets. At the moment Geert Schrijvers is conducting orchestras in and out of The Netherlands and is working at cross-over projects for wind orchestras.
