Hummel Johann Nepomuk, geb. in Preßburg, 14. November 1778, +Weimar, 17. Oktober 1837. Schüler Mozarts, der 1788 bis 1793 als junger Pianist in Europas Kulturzentren Aufsehen erregte. Zu seinen weiteren Lehrern zählten Albrechtsberger und Salieri. 1816 wurde er als Hofkapellmeister in Stuttgart und 1819 als Hofkapellmeister in Weimar angestellt. Sein Klavierstil gilt als Vorstufe zur Klaviermusik von Chopin und Liszt.
