Pavel Stanek was born in Prague in 1927 and studied there at the Conservator of Music until 1950. Then he was emplayes as choir leader of the folklore ensemble from 1950-1954. During his tour of duty in the forces he became director of the Band of the Ministry of the Interior and remained there for some six years as artistic director and conductor. From 1961-1963 Pavel Stanek was conductor at the operetta theater "Na Fidlovace" in Prague and from 1963-1990 he was the director of the Radio Orchestra in Ostrava. During this period he guest conducted many orchestras and bands (among them the Leipzig Radio Wind Orchestra).
