Cichy Roger geboren in Columbus, Ohio, 16. November 1956. Er studierte an seiner Heimat-Universität, wo er auch die Marching-Band leitete. Die Berufslaufbahn als Musikpädagoge und Blasorchesterdirigent begann er 1979 in Mars, Pennsylvania, von wo er 1985 an die University of Rhode Island wechselte. 1986 ginger als Assistant Director an die Iowa State University.
