Bellini Vincenzo geboren in Catania, 3. Novem ber 1801, Puteaux bei Paris, 23. September 1835. Bellini entstammt dem Schülerkreis von Furno, Tritto und Zingarelli am Konservatorium in Neapel, wo 1825 seine erste Oper zur Aufführung gelangte. Sein Ruhm als Opernkomponist verbreitete sich rasch. 1833 übersiedelte er nach Paris, wo er 1835 für das italienische Theater seine letzte Oper I Puritani schrieb.
